Make Lemonade!

Hi. I like lemons, they contain unique flavonoid compounds that have anti-oxidant properties. They also are full of vitamin C. The ancient Romans thought of them with cure-all atributes.
If we add water and sugar (or a sugar substitute) together, we get lemonade. Most people do like to drink it. I don't know why lemons have a bad rep, but I'm releasing my freebie today about the phrase on lemons and lemonade. Hope you like it.
I didn't do much, just use some clip art and a font (Penshurst).
I hope you have a good day and some lemonade!

Follow the Light

Hi there.
I have liked lighthouses since I read a talk by President Monson (LDS church) about the light of Christ. It is meant for the youth. The original talk was given in October 1990. In it he said: "The lighthouse of the Lord sends forth signals readily recognized and never failing."

At the time I was going through my own pains of infertility, my son hadn't been born yet. It wasn't until years later that I read it, at a time when I was looking for a symbol to give to my boy, something that would make him want to stay close to the Lord. So I painted with acrylic paint on his bedroom wall a light house, big, tall, surrounded by the sea.
I wanted to make something similar for today's freebie. I found a copyright free picture, put a look of tapestry on it, added the phrase and some brushes. Here it is, and remember it's for Personal Use only.
Let me know what you think. Thanks.
Patricia.

About Home

I'm back. Being gone and far away was an interesting experience.
Visiting with my mom and siblings was very refreshing.
Reminiscing with family and friends was cathartic.
But I'm back and ready to move on.
I wrote the letters H-M-E in Ecuyere and applied a style. Added the house and applied a cute style.
I wrote the phrase 'is where your' and 'is' in the same font (Embassy), matched the color of the other letters, added a stroke matching the house, that gorgeous orange and then added the heart shape and matched the orange style to it. It looks great, don't you think?
I decided to add the same design in black and white, just in case you want to cut it with your digital cutter. It's a .png file, so you'll have to convert it to .ai.

Let me know what you think of the design. It's always eye opening to read what people's opinions are.
Thanks!
Patricia.

Turn on the Light!

Hi. Someone posted this a while ago on some blog and it stayed with me, so now came the oportunity for me to do something with this phrase and I took it.
I just turned a regular picture into a painting using a style, then added the phrase. The neat part is the look of craft paper: that came from a cool action I found at atomiccupcake.com. You should visit that place before it's gone. My friend BriAnna is closing down her shop and everything is 30% off until the end of the month. Go pay her a visit!

I'll be gone a few days. I'm going to pay respects to my father, who just passed away today. It's never fun when you travel for a funeral.
I promise I'll keep the light on.
You have a great rest of the week!

Bowl of Cherries

Hi there!
I love cherries. Just from the tree. Don't like the ones in a bottle much. In pies, really good. As part of icecream, delicious.
So I came up with this art picture. I had a picture of the bowl of cherries, added a background and the letters and done. Nothing fancy at all.
Hope you like it.

Psalms 9:10

Hi!
I was looking for something to put into art and found this scripture. I like it, but it just reminds me of someone I knew years ago (younger than me) who asked those in the group if they were afraid of God, and if that so, why. I never did answer her question, I don't remember anyone really answering it, some people just smiled, not sure if it was directed at her in sign of friendship or as if expressing superiority, because this one so young didn't know.
Do we have fear towards God? If yes, why? and if not, why not?
I've always, from the earliest memories I can bring up to the front, felt an incredible, awesome, all encompassing feeling of respect towards my Father in Heaven. Love? Yes, absolutely. Fear? Maybe a bit, just because He has power over me and where I finally end up after this life. And because I am not a perfect person.
Anyway, here's today's freebie. I just used a gradient background, a brush and nothing more.
Have a great Sunday!
Patricia.

How Good is Your Memory?

Hi!
According to this phrase, some people don't have much memory in their brain.
It's a very simple design, just the shape with a style, and then the phrase.
As always, the freebie is only for personal use.
Have a safe and happy weekend!
Patricia.

Shall We Dance?

Hi!
I tried to do something different with my graphic art today.
For this freebie, I had the silhouette of the dancer and just applied some artistic filter to her, and she just stood out for me. For the background I just found a gradient set that I liked and then went back to the filters to see what I could come up with. Nothing fancy.

I hope you enjoy it. Have a great one!

Dark Night

Hi.
No, I'm not going to blog about some dark crusader. :o)
But, don't you think that sometimes it seems nothing goes well and you're surrounded by darkness? And you just want some enlightment to come into your life.
It could be depression or another illness. I'm not going to diagnose anyone here, I only want to show some word art that I made with PSE9.
I liked the saying. There are different versions of it everywhere: "After the darkest night, the sun will come up in the morning," is one of them, but I wanted the original, so I went hunting and searching and found it. It comes from Les Miserables written by Victor Hugo, and I decided to use it here.
As always, it's for your own Personal Use. Thank you.
Have a great day and don't let the darkness get the best of you. Know that the light will fill your life and make things better. Especially if that is the light that comes from Christ.

Wind and Sails

Hi!
I found this cool phrase and decided to post the freebie two ways: as a simple black and white .png file and as a modified version, more umped up, if you like.
I used a clip art picture and wrote the words around it, nothing fancy. I just liked the roundness of it.
Here's the black and white version, that you can use to modify as you wish:

And here is the modified version:

I just like the way the surfer makes me feel: free, with not a care in the world.
Have a great day!
Patricia.

Motherhood

Hello there!
Sunday and Monday were HECTIC, so I didn't do anything.
I'm giving away this freebie that you can use as you wish. Apply your own style to it, or convert it to .ai and cut it with your electronic cutter; you could also turn it into a brush. It's a PNG file, 300 dpi. As always, only for Personal Use.
I just had one more word art for mothers, so that's that.

I also wanted to give a shout out for my friend BriAnna, from AtomicCupcake. She's closing down her doors and everything in her store is 30% off. I'm really sorry to see her go, because she's truly an inspiring artist. Her actions are so different from what's offered out there.
Please visit her store and make a purchase before it's gone forever.
Have a good one.
Patricia.

Mother & Child

It has been said that a lot of ink has been used in writing for many subjects: wars, Christ, mothers.
I used this old fashioned clip art to showcase a well known poem that doesn't have a known author.
By the way, I just wanted to share something very sweet I heard the other day. Watching TV, someone was interviewing Beyonce Knowles and asked about her newborn baby girl. Ms Knowles said: "Now I know why I was born." I thought that was beautiful, because you can have many accomplishments in life, but until you find yourself looking into the eyes of a brand new being, you don't care to realize many things. It's like your eyes have been opened for the first time.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy today's freebie.

I will post something later for tomorrow, but I won't be logging in. My son is calling for Mother's day. He's serving a mission in Puerto Rico, and he's loving it there.
Have a great weekend!

To Those Who Can't

Hello. The subject of motherhood has been debated profusely as of late.
Working or not working, the job is never easy. I remember a time, years ago when I was going to University to become a teacher, and our instructor said that being a teacher was not very rewarding, because you can't see the fruits of your labors for years. She had never married or had children. I was single at the time and focused on career, so I never thought of another point of view.
But think about it, you don't know what will happen to you, or if you will be able to have children. And when you do, you don't know how everything will turn out.
Years later I married a good and honorable man. The sad thing is that I left behind my family and culture. We started our life here in the States. Almost immediately we realized we couldn't have babies. We spent years going through treatments -if you are or have been infertile you know what I'm talking about. Treatments that drive you crazy and make you think you're out of your mind. I had to stop them every time, to become myself again.
By the infinite grace of God, I finally became pregnant after a few miscarriages. I feel for those women that so much want babies. I can only say that God loves you, no matter what you're going through at the moment.
This is my tribute to you, friends.

I applied a shape to a picture of a hydrangea I have, and gave it a stroke in a darker shade of blue.
I remember how sad it was to go to church on Mother's day, I hope you will have a good weekend.
Patricia.

Home is...

Hi again! It doesn't matter if it's a hut in the jungle or a highrise in Manhattan, the place you were raised by your mother will always be home.
I don't know if you've heard the song "The House That Built Me," sang by Miranda Lambert. If you're into country you probably have. In the song, she goes back to the old house where she grew up and she walks through the different rooms, remembering.
The following is part of the lyrics:
You leave home, you move on and you do the best you can.
I got lost in this whole world and forgot who I am.
If I could just come in I swear I’ll leave.
Won’t take nothing but a memory
from the house that built me.

I'm sure you're wondering why I mention this. Well, I mentioned before that in 2007 my husband and I took the children on a trip to Argentina, so they could meet the other side of the family. It was very bittersweet, and the saying that goes "you can't go home again" is so true.
My family has moved out of the house I called home. We drove to it and stopped accross the street and I couldn't believe so many changes the new owners made to it. It wasn't the same place at all! Heartbreaking, really.
Anyway, I saw this cute mushroom house and thought of the phrase and put it all together for you to take home as a freebie. Don't forget that the art is only for Personal Use.
Thanks for visiting!
Patricia

Trust in the Lord

I like this scripture. Somebody gifted me a pretty sign to display on a side table that has this scripture on it.
This freebie will be split into two separate .png files: one for the frame and the other for the words. That way you can print them together if you like, or just use the word art alone.

Have a great day!
Patricia.

Garden Angel

Hello world!
I wanted to do something about a garden angel. I love the idea of angels in gardens. I do a lot of gardening and sometimes it seems like I get extra help, especially when I'm alone and the task seems big for just one person.
I made it simple. I found this cute shape frame with garden motif and decided to use it.
The clip art just baffles me. If there are no TOU (terms of use) in the file, I have no idea where they came from. Sometimes I catch it and add the artist's name to the file name. Sometimes I fail to catch it, like this time. So I can't tell you where it came from, or give a link to the place.

Have a great day!
Patricia.

A Mom's Hug...

Hello there, how are things?
I wanted to do something about Mother's day and I liked this idea. My first attempt at using a path, made it myself, it was kinda shaky first, then I corrected it and it ended up looking decent enough to share.
There's nothing really that says wow about this picture, but it looks neat. Enjoy!

Queen Mom

Hi there.
Today's freebie happened because I saw a castle and a crown. I'd just finished making the other Mom phrase I've posted a few days ago. So I decided to tackle it from a different point of view.
I used Photoshop and a few styles (glass and metal) and a frame.
I first put the crown straight on top of the 'o.' But then I decided to give it a bit of an attitude, so I tilted it. I like it better that way.
As always, the image is 300 dpi, a .png file. Please don't share. Thanks!
Patricia.

Joshua said...

Hello there!
I just love this scripture quote from the prophet Joshua (he succeeded Moses in leading Israel to the promised land).
I even have one on my wall. I'll probably print this one and hang it on one of my kids' bedrooms.
I used a shape frame and attached a honeycomb design to it. I have a royalty-free clip art of the meadow and flowers and beehive. Put it all together and this is the result.

Mom is Love

Hi!
The freebie I'm posting today just came together one day.
The frame is a brush with a style applied to it. The 'mom' phrase was cut out from paper; the 'love' phrase has a 'bling' style applied to it. I had a picture of a daisy in my Flowers collection, so I used it, along with the picture of the ivy. And the butterfly is a shape plus a style.

I always wonder about Mother's day. Having been away from my own mother for the last 25 years, the day is kind of bittersweet for me. On the other hand, I have two wonderful kids that love me, defects and all. I can't complain.
'Til next time.
Patricia.

New Month!

Like I said when I posted the Easter Bunny a few days ago, I've been working on the months of the year, so here's a freebie for the month of May.
I got some pretty glass flowers from ZaZa at Scrap and Tubes; I also used a freebie frame by Delicious Scraps. I made the pearls using Photoshop brushes and styles, and added some bows. The letters have a 'bling' style on.

The background is semi-transparent, so it looks dard with the shadow, but the design comes with no shadows. This is a .png file, at 300 dpi.
Enjoy!

Love Always

Hi there!
I designed this frame a while ago. I used shapes for the frame, flowers and leaves. I played with shadows and this is the result.
I love the phrase.

Let me know what you think. Thanks!
Patricia

In the Dog House

I was playing in Photoshop one day, when I came up with this idea. The word 'house' is not really in it, just the picture, but I think it's understood.
This is a .png file, 300 dpi. Full size. Personal Use only.
This freebie has no styles or actions used, just plain graphics.

 Enjoy!
